What do I need to run Vizspect? A Windows 11 machine with Microsoft Visio installed, and a supported AI assistant (such as Claude, ChatGPT Work, or ChatGPT Codex). Vizspect runs locally and attaches to your live Visio session.

Does my work leave my computer? No. Vizspect runs on your machine and talks to your own copy of Visio; your documents are never uploaded to us. Note that your conversation with your AI assistant is handled by that assistant’s provider; see our Privacy Policy.

Which AI assistants are supported? Assistants that run on your machine and support the Model Context Protocol (MCP) including Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cowork, and OpenAI’s ChatGPT Work and ChatGPT Codex, in both CLI and desktop forms. Vizspect registers itself with these on first launch; other local MCP clients connect with a URL. See Connecting your AI assistant.

What kind of assistant connection does Vizspect need? Vizspect requires an assistant that can connect to a local MCP server on the same Windows machine. A general chat window or Office sidebar that cannot make that local connection cannot use Vizspect.

Can I still edit the figure by hand? Yes. Vizspect re-reads the current state before every change, and destructive edits are guarded, so your hand edits aren’t silently overwritten. Take turns, though: Visio is single-threaded, so let the assistant finish its step, then make your changes (or vice versa).

Is Vizspect available yet? Vizspect is currently in limited private use. The former beta signup has been retired. Wider release information will be posted on the Vizspect product page.
