What do I need to run Writespect?

An x64 PC running Windows 10 version 2004 or later, including Windows 11, with Microsoft Word^® installed, and a supported AI assistant (such as Claude, ChatGPT Work, or ChatGPT Codex). Writespect^™ runs locally and attaches to your live Word session.

Does my work leave my computer?

Writespect^™ runs on your machine and talks to your own copy of Word. Your documents are never uploaded to us. Note that your conversation with your AI assistant, including any document text it reads in order to answer you, is handled by that assistant’s provider. See our Privacy Policy.

Will it change my document without me noticing?

Edits can be made as tracked changes, so every insertion and deletion appears as a Word revision you accept or reject. Writespect^™ also takes a snapshot of the document before every change, and most edits land as a single entry on Word’s undo stack, so one Ctrl‑Z reverses one instruction. You choose whether tracked changes are always on, always off, or follow the document’s own setting.

Which AI assistants are supported?

Writespect^™ works with assistants that run on your machine and support the Model Context Protocol (MCP), including Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cowork, and OpenAI’s ChatGPT Work and ChatGPT Codex. The installer can register Writespect for you; other local MCP clients connect with a URL.

What kind of assistant connection does Writespect need?

Writespect^™ requires an assistant that can connect to a local MCP server on the same Windows machine. A general chat window or Office sidebar that cannot make that local connection cannot use Writespect.

Can I still edit the document by hand?

Yes. Writespect^™ reads the document’s current state before it edits, and an assistant can pin what it read so that an edit fails rather than landing on a version that has moved under it. We don’t recommend typing in a paragraph at the same moment the assistant is working on it, though. It’s best to take turns: let the assistant finish its step, then make your changes (or vice versa).

Can it work on a document that isn’t open?

Yes, for work that does not require Microsoft Word itself. Writespect^™ can read and edit a saved .docx directly. Features such as recording tracked changes or producing a Word-native redline require the document to be open in Word.

Who is Writespect^™ for?

Anyone whose work lives in Word documents that have to change carefully, from letters and reports to contracts, briefs, specifications, filings, policies, and standards. It was built in patent prosecution, but none of its features are patent-specific.

Is Writespect^™ available yet?

Writespect^™ is in private development. Wider release information will be posted on the product page.
