User Guide

The User Guide covers everything from first launch to the schedule grid, calendar events, and iCloud sync. You can read it online any time.

Using Slotted on macOS

Slotted reads your Things 3 tasks and lets you drag them onto a visual day schedule. On first launch it asks you to grant access to your Things 3 group container so it can read your tasks. This is required by the macOS App Sandbox, and Slotted only ever reads that folder.

• Settings: Choose Slotted > Settings, or press ⌘, (Command comma).
• Things 3 access: On first launch, Slotted opens a file panel already pointed at your Things 3 database, so you can usually just click Grant Access. If macOS asks whether Slotted may access data from other apps, click Allow. The read-only grant is stored as a security-scoped bookmark, so you only do it once.
• Calendar events: Turn on Show calendar events in Settings and allow Calendar access when macOS asks.
• iCloud sync: Toggle iCloud Sync in Settings to keep your schedule in step across your Macs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Slotted change my Things 3 tasks?

No. Slotted opens your Things 3 database strictly read-only, so it cannot modify, delete, or corrupt your data. It reads your tasks and shows them; all editing still happens in Things 3.

Where is my data stored?

Your schedule is stored locally on your Mac in Slotted's own database, separate from Things 3. Your task data always comes live from Things 3. See our Privacy Policyfor full details.

What are the system requirements?

Slotted^™ requires macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later, and Things 3.

Does Slotted require an account or internet connection?

No. Slotted does not require an account and works offline. It makes no network calls except to your own iCloud account, and only when you turn on iCloud Sync.

How does calendar integration work?

When you enable Show calendar events, Slotted displays events from your macOS calendars on the schedule with a distinct hatched pattern. Calendar events are read-only, so they block out time but cannot be moved or resized, and they refresh automatically when your calendar changes.

My tasks aren't showing up. What should I check?

Make sure Things 3 is installed and that you granted Slotted access to the Things 3 group container on first launch. You can grant access again if needed. Completed tasks are removed from the schedule automatically. See Troubleshooting for more.
