Getting started

Slotted is a native macOS time-blocking companion for Things 3. It reads your Things 3 tasks and lets you drag them onto a visual day-schedule grid, turning a task list into a real day plan. Slotted works alongside Things 3, not as a replacement for it.

Requirements

  • macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later.
  • Things 3 installed on the same Mac.

Download and install

Slotted is available as a direct download. It is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens without Gatekeeper warnings.

  1. Download Slotted for Mac.
  2. Open the downloaded Slotted.dmg.
  3. Drag Slotted into your Applications folder.
  4. Open Slotted from Applications or Launchpad.

First launch

On first launch, Slotted asks for permission to read your Things 3 database. This takes two clicks:

  1. Click Select Things 3 Database.
  2. The panel opens at your Things 3 data folder. Click Grant Access.

If the panel opens somewhere else, press ⌘⇧G (Command Shift G), paste the path below, select that folder, and click Grant Access. Slotted finds the database inside it automatically.

~/Library/Group Containers/JLMPQHK86H.com.culturedcode.ThingsMac

Access is stored as a security-scoped, read-only bookmark, so you only do this once. Slotted never modifies, changes, or deletes anything in Things 3.

Just looking? Click Preview with Sample Data on the welcome screen to explore Slotted with a sample schedule, no Things 3 required.

Note: Access is strictly read-only. Slotted reads your Things 3 tasks and never writes to, changes, or deletes anything in Things 3.

A companion to Things 3

Slotted does not manage your tasks. You continue to capture, organize, and complete work in Things 3. Slotted adds a schedule grid on top of that work, so you can decide when each task happens during the day. Changes you make in Things 3 flow through to Slotted automatically.
