Getting started

Taskspect is a native desktop app for Windows. It provides three synchronized views, local data storage, import and export tools, themes, and keyboard-first task management.

Where commands are located

• Use File > Settings for app preferences and Help > About Taskspect for version information.
• The File menu contains task creation, CSV import, and CSV export commands.
• The View menu contains view, sidebar, Inbox, scale, and full-screen commands.
• The Help menu contains this guide, the keyboard shortcuts reference, and sample data.

Windows display and window behavior

Taskspect supports Windows display scaling from 100% through 200%, including common 125% and 150% settings. It remembers its window size, position, active view, sidebar state, and panel layout between sessions, including when you use more than one display.

Local data

Taskspect stores your tasks and settings on your PC in an embedded SQLite database. No Taskspect account or cloud connection is required. Use File > Export > Export CSV when you want a portable copy of your task data.

Shortcut keys: Taskspect uses Ctrl as the primary shortcut key and Alt for alternate commands.

Your first launch

When you launch Taskspect for the first time, the welcome dialog lets you choose how to begin.

• Yes, show me around: Creates sample areas, projects, tasks, and time blocks so you can explore every feature right away.
• No, start fresh: Starts with an empty workspace containing only the Inbox project.

Changed your mind? Install the sample data later from Help > Install Sample Data, or remove it by deleting the sample projects.
